On our ranch, we teach horse-friendly riding in week-long courses, which allow our guests to combine leisure and learning. Especially in spring and fall, the climate in Portugal is very favorable to outdoor activities. Dates for our courses are on this page: Dates.
Horse-friendly riding starts with allowing the horses to live in a way that fills their basic needs: freedom, friends and forage. Next comes groundwork, which helps to establish trust and respect. Only when the basis is solid, we proceed to riding with soft feel. Riding out in nature at a walk helps our guests to relax and deepen their understanding. The courses are good for beginners, riders who want to learn Western riding, people who are interested in Natural Horsemanship, or riders who want to get over a fall or other accident.
Our focus is always on a trusting relationship between horse and rider.
The small herd of Quarter Horses and Portuguese breeds consist of youngsters, old-timers and well-trained, friendly riding horses. These horses can help you learn new skills and get closer to your specific goals.
